In 1978, C.W Hughes, Jr., who owned a paving company, and his wife Allison, a retired nurse, bought a small grill, motel and marina previously called Gregory’s. It was located at the mouth of the Shallotte River and the Intracoastal Waterway. The grill had 13 stools around a bar and a small tackle shop. It was named Hughes Marina and home of the Poor Boy Shark Tournament for 14 years.
It was a popular restaurant with the locals. It became home for Jr., Allison and their 11-year-old daughter, Samantha. For many of those years they poured their hearts and souls into the restaurant and marina. Their other daughter Amy and her husband John, both teachers, moved from Georgia to help. It continued to get bigger and attract more customers.
In 1992, the girls took over the business, which continued to grow until they closed in 2004. On July 30, 2009, Sam and Timmy, her fiancé, opened the doors of Inlet View, a restaurant with a new look and an elevator that can take you to breathtaking views both from the restaurant on the first floor and a panoramic view from the bar on the second floor, which is surrounded by decks.
Their dream became real with the help of friends and family. Today you can find Sam and Timmy working most of the open hours with Sam’s daughter, Sydney and Timmy’s daughter, Mindy. Amy is usually around the hostess stand or table hopping with her grandson, Zen covering both floors. John comes down early for the sunrise pictures to share.
They still serve the hushpuppies made by Mama’s recipe, both sweet and spicy – a little spicy for some, perfect for others. Being a member of Brunswick Catch, they serve as much seafood from local fishermen as possible.
Their fresh shrimp come straight off of Timmy’s boats. They have nightly specials.
You are sure to find what you are looking for with ten televisions upstairs along with live music on the weekends. Seeing full moons on the water and sunsets at the Inlet View can’t be beat. So, where the road ends, the fun begins with good food, friends and entertainment. Whether you come on the road or by water, it is a great place to be and worth coming to again and again.
Our food is prepared on site and fresh, using only the finest ingredients in all that we do, which may take a little longer because it is cooked to order. In addition, the seafood that we use is 100% wild caught.
We do this to ensure that the seafood we use is indeed fresh. We also belong to and support Brunswick Catch. Community is very important to us, and we work closely with local merchants to help in any way possible to promote and encourage visitors to our area.
Enjoy Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Our Breakfast Menu includes all of your morning classics.
